On January 18, I was born into a music era. My fam was old school and I grew up on classic R&B and Funk bands from Parliment Funkadelic to Con Funk Shun. Growing up, Moms blessed me with DJ equipment so I was a very young DJ at the age of ten. Being exposed to so much good music and good rap, I developed the art of rhyming naturally. I've been inspired by many legendary rap artists like KRS-One, Public Enemy, Run D.M.C, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rapp, N.W.A. and Above The Law.
Early on, my friend and I teamed up to form the rap group Poetic Punishment. I took on my name, Jackpot, and he was Dizazta. We recorded our first Album, 13 Consequences, in 1995 after connecting with Chris Stokes (Marques Houston, Omarion, B2K and the movie You Got Served). In 1997, Poetic Punishment branched into a group called O.F.T.B. to participate in the Death Row Records compilation "Flat Broke".
I've since been writing for myself and other artists, recording, and doing feature performance spots with other artists. I'm currently in the studio working with my label mate, Corpse, on his new record. My next project "Strike It Rich" is in the oven. We are recording tracks for it as we work on Corpses new joint. Watch out for it, its coming soon.
